HEXION

A fresh take on hex-based strategy—shake up the board with a sneeze.

HEXION is a turn-based strategy board game where you place hexagonal pieces to expand your territory.

Read the board, choose your pieces, and gradually build your advantage.

But the outcome is never certain until the very end.

Each player can use a special action called "HEXION" only once per game.

The effect changes depending on the pitch, duration, and volume of your voice, dramatically altering placed pieces—or even the board itself.

Experience a new kind of board game where strategy meets dramatic comebacks.

Game Features

  • Turn-based strategy using hexagonal pieces
  • Supports both microphone and click/tap input
  • Online battles
  • CPU battles
  • The special "HEXION" action that can completely transform the board
  • Tactical play using public pieces and your own private hand
  • Simple yet deep placement rules

Basic Rules

  1. Choose a piece from the public pieces or your own hand.
  2. Rotate the piece and place it on the board.
  3. Expand your DIRECT and CONTROL territories.
  4. Take turns with your opponent.
  5. At the end of the game, the player with the most territory and points wins.

Placed hexes become your directly controlled territory, called DIRECT.

Empty spaces enclosed by your piece placement can become indirectly controlled territory, called CONTROL.

Your final score is calculated based on your DIRECT and CONTROL territories.

What Is HEXION?

HEXION is a special action that can have a major impact on the board.

Each player can use it only once per game.

When using microphone input, you can adjust the pitch, duration, and volume of your voice to influence which effects occur and how large an area they affect.

If you cannot use a microphone, you can still play using click or tap input as an alternative.

Conditions for Using HEXION

HEXION uses three properties of your voice:

  • Pitch
  • Duration
  • Volume

One effect is determined by your pitch and another by the duration of your voice, causing two effects to activate together.

There are four possible combinations:

  • Subsidence + Landslide
  • Subsidence + Fissure
  • Earthquake + Landslide
  • Earthquake + Fissure

Subsidence and Earthquake can never occur at the same time.

Likewise, Landslide and Fissure can never occur at the same time.

How HEXION Effects Are Determined

HEXION Effects

Subsidence

Destroys placed DIRECT hexes within the affected area, regardless of which player owns them.

Destroyed hexes return to empty spaces, allowing pieces to be placed there again.

Depending on the effect range, 4 to 19 hexes, including the center hex, can be affected.

If there are fewer placed hexes within the affected area, only the existing DIRECT hexes are destroyed.

Earthquake

Reverses the ownership of placed hexes within the affected area.

Your hexes become your opponent's, while your opponent's hexes become yours.

A dominant position can be completely overturned in an instant.

Landslide

Moves placed pieces within the affected area in a single direction.

As the positions of the pieces change, previously secured territory may be lost—or entirely new territory may be created.

Fissure

The board splits open from the selected location, pushing the terrain apart on both sides.

The center hex remains fixed while the surrounding board shifts.

The resulting gap does not become empty playable space. Instead, it remains on the board as a permanent fissure in the terrain.

Any placed pieces move together with the terrain.

At maximum size, a fissure can reach:

  • Maximum width: 3 hexes
  • Maximum length: 7 hexes

Because the spatial relationships of the board itself are altered, existing territories and placement strategies can be dramatically disrupted.

Click/Tap Input Alternative

If you do not use a microphone, you can activate HEXION using click or tap input instead.

With click/tap input, the following parameters are determined randomly:

  • Pitch
  • Duration
  • Volume

This means you cannot precisely control which effects will occur.

With microphone input, you can adjust your voice to influence both the effects and their range, giving you greater control than click/tap input.

Game Modes

  • CPU Battle
  • Solo Battle
  • Online Battle

Even if the online service is unavailable, you can still play against the CPU.

Controls

Mouse / Touch Controls

  • Click/tap a piece: Select a piece
  • Click/tap the board once: Select a placement position
  • Click/tap the same position again: Confirm placement
  • Rotate button: Rotate the piece
  • HEXION button: Use HEXION

Normal piece placement requires two actions: selecting a position and confirming it.

About Microphone Input

Microphone input is used only to determine the effects of HEXION.

Your recorded audio is not saved or transmitted externally.

Even without a microphone, you can play the entire game using click/tap input.

Depending on your browser, you may need to grant microphone permission.

Recommended Environment

  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Landscape orientation recommended
  • If using microphone input, please allow microphone access in your browser

Microphone input and fullscreen behavior may vary depending on your browser and device.
